That is one of those things that the party can’t seem to agree on. Some think it constitutes “harming” someone and therefor should be illegal… some don’t think it harms, and therefor should be absolutely legal… then there are those in the middle that think it is a case by case thing and should be legal but regulated…

If you want to know what the party’s position is on abortion I suggest visiting their webpage. Personally, I have seen Libertarians of both sides of the issue. It really depends on wether the individual is willing to admit that an unborn baby is a human being, and deserving of government protection.

A fetus has no independent life prior to birth, thus is expendable at any time the mother wishes…in essence, the same view as the militant pro-abortionists.

    There is no standard view.
“Libertarians promote individual liberty and seek to minimize the role of the state. The majority of libertarians consider a right to abortion as part of their general support for individual rights, especially in regard to what they consider to be a woman’s right to control her body. Other libertarians oppose abortion, and claim libertarian principles such as the non-aggression principle apply to human beings from conception.”

As in most discussions of this issue, it is difficult to come up with a standard view. People always start looking at exceptions.

Personally, abortion is a tough one for me. I believe it is a personal choice, and should be made without government intervention, in either direction. On the other hand, I can’t grasp the use of abortion as an acceptable contraceptive method. When it comes to the mother’s health, rape, etc. I believe it should be an available option. But just because you were too lazy to use a condom… I find that inconceivable.

The problem is, how to you control one without infringing on the other. As a libertarian I choose to ere on the side of liberty. Let people choose what is best for them, then have to live with those choices. Keep government out of it.
